Rumours Dismissed By David Moyes
David Moyes (manager of Manchester United) has dismissed all speculations regarding Rio Ferdinand’s future association with the club and his retirement plans. There were rumors reported in newspapers that Rio Ferdinand is not going to be a part of the training camp in Dubai and that he will probably retire after this football season comes to an end.
At a press meeting, Moyes made it very clear that all these rumors are not true and complete nonsense. Rubbish facts in relation to Rio Ferdinand and Manchester United were reported by the newspapers.
On twitter, Ferdinand himself responded to the rumors and tweeted that it must have been a slow news reporting day.
In around two months, Ferdinand has only made a single appearance for the club. Rio Ferdinand did not participate in the match between Manchester United and Fulham that was held on the 9th of February, 2014 at Old Trafford even though Jonny Evans and Phil Jones (two possible alternatives) were not a part of the match due to injuries.
Nemanja Vidic (the defensive partner of Rio Ferdinand) has recently announced that he is planning to retire at the end of this season. Therefore, it will not at all be surprising if Rio Ferdinand also decide to quit Manchester United because after this season ends, his contract is going to expire with the club.
Ferdinand is going to Dubai along with the squad of Manchester United for the training camp. According to David Moyes, the team needs to go through rigorous training because the Champions League is around the corner. The squad has to work hard because their performance has not been that impressive especially in relation to the match against Fulham (9th February, 2014). Therefore, Moyes is of the opinion that training will help the Manchester United team produce desired results in the future.
